Right on the side of the Cooperativa Tessile, you find the start of the well-trodden path Number 502. It winds up the east side of the tacco in broad curves, to reach a wide ledge from which you can look over the plateau. You come to a junction where you should follow signs for Bruncu Matzei. You continue in the wood with a pleasant gentle climb, to approach the summit of the mountain, defended by some rocks. Here there is a deviation for the Mazzeu grotta (cave), 150 m long. Overcome the rocks on the south side to soon reach the highest point, where a rocky “table” forms an impressive vantage point from which you can look down on the houses of Ulassai (45 minutes/1 hour). You come back on the same path as far as the junction, from which you can return to the town through the narrow cleft of Su Stampu (signs for “discesa Barigau”), where you need to take care on some rocky sections, or (longer) down the Scala De Predi, on the west side of the mountain. If you take  the second option, you come to the amphitheatre which dominates the valley towards Santa Barbara. You get back to Ulassai descending only slightly on rocky steps then through a narrowing on the right with a gate to stop animals passing. You soon reach the road below which goes around underneath the Tacco back to Ulassai (1 hour 30 minutes from the summit).paese (1 ora e 30 from the summit).
